Anger & irritability (program)
Service Description
his therapy program is designed for individuals who struggle with chronic anger, irritability, or emotional outbursts—whether it's frequent frustration, internal resentment, passive-aggressive behaviors, or explosive reactions. These emotional patterns are often rooted in underlying pain, stress, unmet needs, or past experiences of invalidation or powerlessness. Anger itself is not the problem — it’s a natural, protective emotion. But when it feels out of proportion, constant, or harmful to relationships, work, or self-esteem, it signals the need for deeper regulation and understanding. The goal of this program is to help you understand the purpose of anger, learn how to express it in healthy ways, and develop tools for staying calm, clear, and connected — even under stress. This integrative program draws from several evidence-based models, including: Psychoeducation about the anger cycle, triggers, and how anger masks emotions like fear, shame, or helplessness. CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) to identify and challenge thought distortions (e.g., “They’re doing this on purpose,” “I can’t tolerate this”) and reframe core beliefs about control and respect. DBT-based emotional regulation skills to manage intense feelings in the moment and reduce impulsive behaviors. Mindfulness and somatic awareness to build body-based cues for early anger detection and release tension safely. EMDR therapy, when appropriate, to process unresolved past experiences (e.g., bullying, humiliation, injustice) that fuel chronic anger or sensitivity to disrespect. Compassion-Focused Therapy to reduce self-directed anger, shame, or inner criticism that often fuels irritability. Please note: This is an approximate framework, not a rigid sequence. We'll adjust the tools and pace to your needs, goals, and readiness to change. Clients completing this program often report fewer emotional outbursts, improved communication, greater self-control, and the ability to respond—rather than react—in situations that once felt overwhelming.
